Farewell to Tompkins Barracks

Stan Gillaspie alerted us to this poignant and, for many of us,  nostalgic report on the closing and abandonment of Tompkins Barracks in Schwetzingen, Germany, just outside of Heidelberg.

In September 2012, Tompkins Barracks - the last US Army Installation in Schwetzingen (Germany) - was closed. This short film captures the atmosphere on post just days before it was closed. Americans and Germans who worked on this installation share how they feel about the big move and the end of an era. The video was shown during the official closing ceremony on Tompkins Barracks on March 16, 2013. 

It is worth a watch for anyone who has ever been stationed in Germany.
