SGM Ivar T. (IVAR ) Modtland To TAPS

SGM (RET) Ivar T. Modtland, 87 of North Fort Myers, FL passed away on December 25, 2022, born on July 5, 1935 in Stavanger Norway to Fenvik T. Modtland and Mary Wersland. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Angela Miller Modtland.

Ivar is preceded in death by his son Ivar Kevin Modtland, sister Margit Church, and brother John Caine.

Ivar is survived by his wife, Angela; his children Thor (Karen) Modtland, Sonja Kingsley, Shelley Modtland, Cheryl (Mike) Abbott, Brian Modtland; stepchildren, Montgomery (Deborah) Kirkland, Jennifer Kirkland, and Cynthia (John) Harwood. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Ivar is a retired Sergeant Major in the Army with a lifelong commitment to the Armed Forces. He was involved with the Six Lakes Veterans Association and went on the Collier-Lee Honor Flight to Washington DC on April 30, 2022. He was also an avid golfer for many years as well as a member of the “Sons of Norway”.
