MSG LINDSAY W. CANNON passed away 3/20/2020.

MSgt. Lindsay Warren Cannon, USA Ret., 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020 at his home. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11am at Freedom Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Ayden Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Lindsay, son of the late Jesse and Bessie Cannon, was a native of Pitt County. He was a graduate of Ayden High School and attended Kings Business College in Raleigh as well as Pitt Community College. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the US Army eventually retiring after 23 years. He earned several medals and awards, including the prestigious Bronze Star. Following his retirement from the Army, he went on to work for the US Postal Service, retiring after 15 years. He loved to fish, travel, play pool and listen to country and bluegrass music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Cannon. Lindsay is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathryn Pierce Cannon; three sons, Michael Cannon of White Lake, Lamont Cannon and Paul Cannon and wife Marjolein, all of Winterville; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Pamela Gail Frizzelle.  Cemetery Details Ayden Cemetery Blount Street & W. 6th Street
