Lorraine A. Rusek (Nee Bialas), age 91, of Sarasota returned to the presence of the Lord on April 1, 2018. Memorial Mass will be held at the Church of the Incarnation on Friday, April 6th at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to .
Lorraine was born in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Frankford High School. She and her husband moved to Sarasota in 1969 where she served as secretary to the Nursing Director of the Sarasota County Health Department until her retirement. She was an active volunteer for many organizations, namely the Polish-American Club of Sarasota, Tidewell Hospice, Senior Friendship Center, and Angel on my Shoulder. She nurtured her love of music as an usher at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall for 41 years, and founded the Florida West Coast Chopin Piano competition. 
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, LTC Edward A. Rusek, sister Stella, sister-in-law Mildred, and brother-in-law John. Lorraine leaves a daughter, Patricia Von Petner, granddaughter Rebecca Bolnick, and nieces Nancie McCusker and Cynthia Miller. The family of Lorraine Rusek wishes to thank the staff of Sunnyside Village Retirement Community and Health Center for their grace, support, and compassion.
