1SG THOMAS C WARD To TAPS

Rochester – 1SG(RET) Thomas C. Ward, 79, passed away Friday August 12, 2016 at his home following a brief illness.

Born March 19, 1937 in East Port, ME he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Rogers) Ward.

Mr. Ward was a retired First Sergeant from the US Army after 22 years of service, who served two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army he worked as an auditor at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 17 years.

He was a member of the Rochester Elks Lodge 1303, and the American Legion Post 7 of Rochester. He was a member of the Senior League at Pease Golf Course for many years. He loved watching sports, and most of all taking his grandchildren and great grandchildren golfing and bowling.

Members of his family include his wife of 56 years Traute Ward of Rochester, NH; his children Barbara Toomire of Epping, NH; and Peter Ward and wife Julie Borden of Portsmouth, NH; his grandchildren Eric, Christopher, Rebecca, and Maxwell, and his great grandchildren Landon, Naomi, Godric, and Forest, several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers Rogers, William, and Steve Ward, and his sister Mary Proulx.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday August 17, at 10AM in the Pinegrove Cemetery in Barrington.
