34th National Retiree Military Golf Classic

The 34^th annual National Retiree Military Golf Classic (NRMGC) was successfully conducted last week in Myrtle Beach, SC with over 600 men and almost 100 women participants.  This is a great tournament for military retirees and spouses.  It is conducted as a scramble (3 days for women and 4 days for men) with A, B, C, and D players based on certified handicaps.   This is a fun tournament with a chance to meet new and old friends.  One of my old War College classmates and his wife played this year.  All rounds are played as a shotgun start at 8 am, allowing free fun time in the afternoons and evenings.  There is an ice breaker one night and a fabulous Alabama Theater show another evening.   We pay prize awards through thirty places for men and eight for women (A-D), have random and mulligan drawings, and this year paid out $750 for a hole-in-one.  Participants that refer new players receive a $20 gift certificate.  We also have a raffle drawing with all proceeds (over $7,000) going to Folds of Honor, the USO, and the Fisher House. 

I am one of 7 committee members that organize the tournament and function as the treasurer having taken over from my good friend, CSM(R) Bob Johns who passed away in March 2016.
