SFC MICHAEL F. DONOHUE To TAPS

1882, 21 Jan 2017

Kevin:

Wanted to let the Finance Community know that my husband Michael F. Donohue, SFC Retired passed away last night, 19 Jan 2017 at 2354 hrs.  He was on active duty from 26 Jun 1972 thru 30 Sep 1992.  He served at Ft Ord, CA, 2nd ID in Korea, 78th Finance in Schweinfurt, Germany, Ft. Irwin, CA and Heidelberg, Germany.

Let me know if you need any more info.

I also served as a Finance NCO.

Can you let me know how to access the site now.  I tried to google it but got nowhere.  I contacted Suzanne Ramos (we served together at Ft. Ord more than 40 years ago) & she told me about the NCOs & Officers merging together.  She also gave me your name as the president.

If anyone wants to contact me they can email me at this address or contact me via facebook.  I'm Sandra Coate Donohue.  I would love to hear from the soldiers we once served with.

Sandra Donohue

From Imre Volgyi::

I had the privilege of serving with Mike in Germany from 1986-1989 and I can tell you he was one of the most outstanding, professional. and knowledgeable soldiers that I ever worked with in my 26 year career.  I cannot tell you how many times he would stay late or sneak back into the building to get work done, many times not even his own.  He would always give you a straight answer and never let you down and he was respected by all to include the three-star general who was the Deputy Commander for all of USAREUR, on occasions calling him over to the command group personally to address issues.  I am sure you know about that because you and your family are the ones that had to bear the brunt of him not being around because of this strong loyalty to his job and the finance corps.   I talked to him last at the RAFINO Reunion in San Antonio in 2012 and while his demeanor had not changed much, his health had deteriorated.  My sincere sympathy to you and your family but I hope you are proud of how he served his country as he will always occupy a special place in my heart of my memories of active duty.

Respectfully,

Imre Volgyi
