Ms. JOYCE, BARBER to TAPS

JOYCE I. BARBER (nee Schlatter) passed away peacefully on February 4, 2016 from the effects of Parkinson's. She was born on April 6, 1932 to the late Louis and Emma Schlatter (nee Belschner). She is survived by George, her beloved husband of 64 years; sisters Miriam (Leo, deceased) Fritz of Iowa and Evalyn Lueder (deceased). She was the loving mother to Denise Walters (Edward) and Jerry Barber (Mary Jane), cherished grandmother of Michelle Walters (Juergen), Mathew and Scott Walters, and Lucinda and Marisa Barber. She was also blessed with three great-grandsons, Nathan, Liam and Connor Walters. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Iowa and PA. Joyce had a career in real estate that started as a sales woman for Kelly Realty in Berea, Ohio. When that closed, she moved on to Taft-Hossfeld and ERA Page One in Strongsville, Ohio. After obtaining her broker's license she worked with Golden Falcon Homes. She was a new home specialist and sold over 200 homes in Strongsville and Montville Twp., Ohio. Joyce is a veteran of the Women's Army Corps. She loved to cook and bake, skate, travel, sew, shop and spend time with her grandchildren. A private inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick, Ohio 44212. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joyce to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Rd., Medina, Ohio, 44256 or the American Parkinson Disease Association 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
