LTC Keating enlisted in 1998 as an Infantryman where he served in various positions at both Fort Campbell, KY and Berlin, Germany as well as a three month deployment to the Turkey/Iraq border as part of Operation Provide Comfort.
 
LTC Keating was commissioned through the ROTC Program from the University of Tampa in 1996 as a Finance Officer. He attended Finance Officer’s Basic Course and the Finance Officer’s Advanced Course at Fort Jackson, SC. He attended Intermediate Level Education at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas where he earned the Joint Planner Identifier and Space Operations Identifier as well as his MBA from Webster University.
 
As a Company Grade Officer, LTC Keating was assigned to the 24thFinance Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, the 230th Finance Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas, and the 267th Finance Battalion at Fort Wainwright and Fort Richardson, Alaska where he served as Detachment Commander, S3 and disbursing officer with a six month deployment to Haiti as the Military Pay Office OIC for Operation Uphold Democracy and a two month rotation to Egypt as part of the Bright Star 1997 exercise. In 2004, he reported to the 513th Military Intelligence Brigade (Separate) at Fort Gordon, GA and served as the Deputy Resource Manager with a 1 year WIAS tasker as the 395thFinance Battalion (Army Reserves) Executive Officer in Kuwait with responsibilities for Army Reserve, Texas National Guard, and active duty Finance Detachments serving bases in Qatar, Kuwait, and Western and Southern Iraq.  In 2009, he relocated to Germany where he served as the Chief of both the Requirements Validation Branch and the Plans and Operations Branch where he was recognized for developing and implementing the RM concept which established the ISAF Joint Command as the 2009 Army RM of the Year (above Army Command) by the American Society of Military Comptrollers.  In 2012, he served as the Finance and Accounting/Field Operations Officer for the United States Army Financial Management Command (USAFMCOM). He currently serves at the 3rd Infantry Division G8 and is deployed forward in Qatar as the United States Forces – Afghanistan J8 Execution Chief.
 
LTC Keating has obtained the Financial Management Certification Level 3 and the Certified Defense Financial Manager with Acquisition designator.
