LTC SAM DONALD, JR To TAPS

LTC SAM DONALD, JR passed away in MARCH 2014.

Sam Donald was born in Vossburg, Mississippi on July 18, 1916, but lived in Monroe most of his life. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry several times and as Senior Warden, Junior Warden, and Treasurer.

Mr. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and The Korean Conflict retiring in 1976 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a Certified Public Accountant for many years, starting his own firm in 1964. He retired from the firm in 1979 and since served on the staff and Board of Directors of several corporations. 

Mr. Donald was preceded in death by his father Sam Donald, his mother Virginia Elizabeth Herrington Donald, brother, Erman Donald and daughter Virginia Alma "Ginger" Donald Tuttle. 

Survivors include his wife of over 70 years Carolyn Renwick Donald, Son-in-law, William C. Tuttle, granddaughters Julie Paige Tuttle of Chapel Hill, NC, Robin Elaine Tuttle, and her son Jackson Tuttle-Luft of Charlotte, NC.
