College Credits for Finance Courses

1214, 24 Oct 2014

This from COL Jeff Powell, Commandant of the School:

Last week the American Council on Education (ACE) conducted a review of financial management courses taught at Fort Jackson. The purpose of
an ACE military review is to bridge the gap between professional military education and postsecondary education. Reviews are conducted by faculty members from colleges and universities who are currently teaching in the areas they are reviewing. The review team analyzes materials, identifies learning outcomes, and recommends postsecondary credit based on its findings.

Previously, ACE did not recognize any FM courses for college credit. As a result of last week’s review, however, the ACE team indicated they will recommend college credit be awarded for graduates of AIT, MOS-T, ALC (Both AC & RC), SLC (Both AC & RC), the Captain’s Career course and all Functional Courses. We will publish the exact credit hours for each course one the recommendations have been finalized.
