LTC Marjory Mary MARCEL to TAPs

Marjory Mary Marcel LTC, U.S. Army (Retired)
63, beloved wife of Dennis C. Marcel and adored mother of Amanda Brown and Christopher Marcel passed away suddenly September 10, 2014. Born May 13, 1951, in Sandusky, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Norbert and Irene (Charette) Hiss. She and Denny began their 15,544 day journey together while in college and were married on February 22, 1975 at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel in Virginia.
Margie graduated with a Bachelor's from Georgetown University from the School of Languages and Linguistics. She received a Master's in Human Relations from Webster University. She also received a Master's in School Counseling and an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Butler University.
She retired from the U.S. Army in 1995 as a Finance Officer after 20 years of service. She later retired from North Central High School as the school psychologist in 2008. Margie enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and was an active member of the Five Seasons Sports Club, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her delightful grandsons, Nolan and Jacob.
Margie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Denny Marcel; two children, Amanda (Justin) Brown and Christopher (Nicole) Marcel; two grandsons, Nolan and Jacob Brown; and siblings, Nancy Zeller, Charles Hiss, Joseph Hiss, Robert Hiss, and David Hiss. She was preceded in passing by a sister, Janet Hiss.
Services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel , 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the funeral home. A mass at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel followed by the interment with full military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
