LTC JOSEPH B. REGAN To TAPS

LTC Joseph B. Regan 99, passed away in Jacksonville, Florida on February 15, 2012. He was born in Lumberton, NC on May 22, 1912, the son of Dr. James DeWitt and Eliza Stansel Regan, and enlisted in the US Army in April 1941. After attending Financial Officer\\chr(39)s Candidate School, he was one of the first 401st Bomb Group members to be sent to the new B17 base in Deenethorpe, England, as Financial Officer in Disbursement, and served in that capacity through the end of WWII.

After the war he continued as a Finance Officer with the Army, serving two tours in Europe, one in Korea, at the Pentagon, and as Chief of Finance and Accounting at Walter Reid Army Medical Center, as well as numerous other stateside assignments, advancing to LTC before retiring in July 1965.

He was a member of the 401st Bomb Group Association, Chestnut Street Methodist Church in Lumberton, NC, and Ortega United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, FL.

He is preceded in death by his former wife Lena Logan Regan, his brothers David Reid Regan, James Stansel Regan, Howard McCall Regan, and Earl Regan, and his sister Mable Christine Regan. He is survived by his son Joseph D. Regan of Raleigh, NC.
