Every time I give an
informational briefing about the Finance Corps I end it with a slide that
states, “The Finance Corps is STRONG, HEALTHY, TAKING CARE OF
SOLDIERS, TRAINING TO STANDARD, and EVOLVING TO KEEP PACE WITH A CHANGING
ARMY----HOOAH!!!! This one slide
captures the essence of what is great about our Finance Corps soldiers and what
they do everyday to SERVE AND SUPPORT.
The soldiers who make up
our Finance Corps do us proud by their words, deeds and actions.
They are physically fit, tactically grounded in Army doctrine and are the
most technically proficient Finance soldiers in our history.
Our soldiers and the civilians that compliment them at various locations
throughout the world are simply the best. In
the coming years, they will be provided better tools to do their jobs.
As the Army starts its
Transformation, the Finance Corps will be adapting to a fast moving, fluid
battlefield environment. We must be able to provide first class, accurate,
reliable and timely financial support to our forces.
We have to provide the same level of support we provide today and do it
with a decrease in our numbers in the battle space.
The only way to decrease the number of soldiers in the forward battle
space is to leverage technology.
The tool that we are
going to use to level technology will be the Future Finance System
(FFS). After years of trying, we have the funding to field our enabler,
FFS. The FFS is a deployable enabler that will allow the Finance soldier to
bring real time financial support to the battle space.
The Finance School has the lead in developing the hardware and the
Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) will be providing the software
operating systems. This partnership
between the Finance School and DFAS will produce a top quality enabler.
The Finance Corps is positioning itself to be a viable part of THE ARMY.
The civilians,
enlisted soldiers, NCOs and officers of our Regiment will continue to do their
jobs with an exceptional level of expertise.
They will accomplish the mission with confidence, honor and pride.
As they go about doing their daily job, the Regiment needs each of you to
support us by becoming an active member of the Regiment.
I know each you are share in their successes and have every reason to be
proud of our Regiment. I encourage
you to show that pride whenever you have the chance.
Let the world know, you are part of the best Regiment in the United
States Army, the FINANCE REGIMENT.
