Message From The Honorary Colonel of
The Finance Corps Regiment
MG (Ret.) Paul P. Burns

Dear Retired Finance Corps Members:

My two year tour as the Honorary Colonel ended at the 15th Finance Board meeting in March.  I was asked to nominate my successor.  I recommended BG (R) Roger Scearce who retired on 1 April after 27 years of singularly outstanding service in times of peace and war.  The Finance Board Executive council unanimously approved General Scearce.  Roger is fully cognizant of the tough issues facing the Corps today and is eminently capable of providing council to the Board.  I trust that Roger will keep you posted on the status of the Finance corps issues in his future messages.

It has been a great honor and privilege to serve as Honorary Colonel of the Regiment.  I assure you that the Corps' leaders and soldiers are the best the corps has ever had, and are fully supported by the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Financial Management and Comptroller and staff.  I thank Colonel Ed Stanton and his staff for their outstanding support.  Ed finished his tour of duty as Chief of the Corps on May 21 at a change of command ceremony.  The new Chief is Colonel Charles R. Rogers.  Ed has orders assigning him as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Resource Management at the Training and Doctrine Command and has been nominated to the rank of BG by the current Board.  Hopefully, this will set a precedent of progression for Finance Corps leaders to achieve the highest levels of financial and resources management positions in the Army.  I leave fully confident that our Corps will continue to serve the soldiers and commanders of our great Army and country in the finest traditions of the Finance Corps.  May God continue to bless the Finance Corps, the Army and the United States of America.

Sincerely,
MG (R) Paul P. Burns
