TAPS

The below listed members of our Finance Family, whether members of RAFINO or not, are only those about whose death we have been notified since the publication of our immediately previous newsletter, i.e., the Spring 1998 issue.  We regret to announce the passing of these good and old friends and pray that they may rest in peace.

Day is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hill,
from the sky.
All is well, safely rest. God is nigh.
Thanks and praise, for our days, 'neath the stars,
'neath the sky.
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.

(Ed:  The Finance Corps has recently lost one of our most prominent members.  On the 6th of September Brigadier General (Ret) Robert C. Goetz, 57, died.  A great number of his friends, family and colleagues attended his full military honors burial at Arlington National Cemetery on the 22nd of September.  The magnitude of our loss was accentuated when his casket was transferred from the caisson to the 3rd Infantry (Old Guard) pall bearers when the ruffles and flourishes were followed by an eleven gun salute, and the playing of the "Generals March" by the Army Band. Prior to his death Bob Goetz served in a Senior Executive Service civilian capacity as the Deputy Director for Customer Service and Performance Assessment, of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.  Bob began his military career as an Artillery officer.  We already know of his exemplary service during the major part of his Active Duty service.  Over the course of that FC service he was awarded the DSM, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, and numerous other much deserved decorations.  RAFINO extends its condolences to his widow, Rose Campbell Goetz (who remains in the Finance Family as a member of RAFINO).
