EXTRAORDINARY ARMY BRAT OFFSPRING

#1. -- The Poteat Female "Army Brat" Octave 

(Ed: In conversation during the recent Columbia reunion with Duna Poteat, widow of CWO Warren Poteat, one of the hardest working and most enthusiastic reunion committee members, and your editor talked generally about "Army Brats".  Duna then proceeded to describe the educational and professional career work accomplishments of her eight daughters, as summarized briefly below -- in order from the oldest to the youngest.  Sure speaks well for parental guidance and motivation:)

Duna Gene:  Mainly from scholorships throughout college earned her Master's from University of SC in French and English.  Taught undergrads at Univ of SC. 
Geela Bopeep:  Financed mainly by scholorahips and grants, graduated from Clemson Univ. as a Biomedical Ceramic Engineer (only female in a class of 270 students!).  Has done research for UNC at Chapel Hill.  Worked for Corning.  Now employed in Columbia by DEHC.
Gherry Gem:  An Army merit scholar.  Degree from Univ of SC.  Gay Dawn:  Finished her undergrad work at Univ of SC in three years (declining use of scholorships as she did not want to attend college until age 21).  Has 2 Citadel Masters '- one in Math!.
Mona Gwen:  Also finished her undergrad degree in three years - math and science.  Now a navy wife of 22 years.
Tammy Geeva:  Played Little League baseball at Ft. Jackson for five years-during two of which she was the sole girl on the team!  This and good grades led to a softball scholarship to Baptist College in Charleston, SC.
Gilda June:  A "Carolina Scholar".  Works as a chemical engineer with Westinghouse in Columbia, SC after seventeen years in Pittsburgh, PA.  Husband is a mechanical engineer.
Thena Gidget:  Got her undergrad degree at Washington Univ., St. Louis, MO.  Attended Yale Law School.  Worked in corporate law for awhile.  Even though since married she currently attends Medical University. in Charleston, SC.
